REVIEW: Freshskin by Elemis

A few weeks ago I blogged to you all about the Elemis Freshskin hamper I received after winning a giveaway. I had never used Elemis products before and with the hamper I received (which you can see here), I didn't quite know where to start. However my holiday was nearing and my current skincare products were running out, and I figured that was a perfect opportunity to try out a few of the Elemis products. Of course I couldn't take everything with me to Jamaica so I decided to take the 'Peachy Perfect' Gentle Face Wash, 'Softly Softly' Daily Moisturiser and 'Dreamy Sleep' Night-time Moisturiser.I have been using these products now for 6weeks+ and as promised it's time to review.

Elemis Freshskin Peachy Perfect Gentle Face Wash 100ml £12.00

''Hydrating chicory extract, conditioning elderflower and skin-awakening lemon, leave the complexion beautifully soft and glowing. Suitable for all skin types''.
(Elemis, 2013)

When it comes to face washes, I am quite picky. I wouldn't say I am a snob of any kind, but if I see an ingredient in a product which is cheap I won't use it because my skin is really delicate. Using this product for the first time I instantly felt at ease at seeing the word 'gentle'. Now I know that probably sounds daft, but that instantly tells me my skin won't burn and the product is not a ''hidden on the high street paint stripper''! The product as you can see comes in a clear packaging which I think is really good as it enables you to see how much product you have before reordering. It also has a 'pump' nozzle which makes for dispensing a lot easier and you can judge how much you wish to use (I should add a little goes a long way!). The product itself isn't heavily scented which was another great bonus to me as heavily scented products break me out. But the slight scent was not overpowering and easy tolerate. First time using the product my skin felt amazing; soft and light, and it didn't feel tight or dry like I have experienced in the past with some products. Using this product 2 x times a day, sometimes 3 (whilst I was in Jamaica), 100ml has lasted quite a while. It was only last week that I reordered another as I think this face wash and I have built up quite a good friendship! Although some may say in terms of cost it is a little on the pricey side, considering the product is aimed at those who are in their teens, and the majority are students not earning a great deal. That side, it is a good face wash in my opinion.

Elemis Freshskin Sofly Softly Daily Moisturiser 50ml £20.00

''Enriched with seaweed extract, this light and non-greasy daily moisturiser helps protect and moisturise. Rosehip seed oil and sweet almond oil deliver soothing and softening qualities ensuring the skin receives an instant hydrating boost. Skin is left revitalised and more radiant''.
(Elemis, 2013)

At first I was a little dubious about using this moisturiser as I have oily/combination skin, and my skin is rather fussy. However I figured I'd give it a go and see what would happen. As you can see the product is packaged in a white container which in my opinion seems daft as you can't see how much product you have left. As with the face wash, the product has the same pump nozzle which makes for dispensing the product easy and you're able to judge how much you wish to use. The product itself is white in colour with a reasonable consistency. The first thing I noticed was the scent which is really nice and not overpowering, and the best bit? it's not greasy! YAY! The product I found sunk into my skin really well, leaving no oily residue. My only slight grumble however is the cost; at £20 for 50ml that is a little on the expensive side. But that said judging by the weight I think I still have about half of the product left, considering I've been using it for 6+ weeks 1 x day.

Elemis Freshskin Dreamy Sleep Night-Time Moisturiser 50ml £22.00

''Dreamy Sleep Night-Time Moisturiser from the Freshskin by Elemis range for younger skins is specially formulated with a powerful liposome complex of vitamins A, C and E. This intensely hydrating night cream improves skin radiance whilst you sleep. Blackcurrant seed oil and barley extract help to further refine skin texture and increase skin smoothness''.
(Elemis, 2013)

Of course we all have our special night time creams which do X, Y Z for our skin whilst we sleep. Elemis have formulated their very own special night time cream in the freshskin range. As with the daily moisturiser, the product is packaged in a white container whereby you can't see a thing. Again this makes no sense to me as you can't see how much product you have left. As with the other 2 products there is a pump nozzle which makes for dispensing easy. As with the daily moisturiser, the product itself is white in colour, with a reasonably thick consistency. When using this product I noticed it was slightly greasy, but I only used a small amount so my skin wasn't too oily. The product I noticed smelt exactly the same as the daily moisturiser, but for some reason this cream at night time made me incredibly sleepy, and before I knew it, I was fast asleep! In terms of price, again it is a little expensive at £22.00 for 50ml, but like the daily moisturiser, I think I still have half of the product left considering I use it 1 x night.

**********************

I have been back in the UK almost 4 weeks, and I am still pleased with how the Elemis products and I are getting on. I went back to work 2 days after I got back, and my work colleagues commented on how well I looked and how good my skin had become. Ok I still have the odd few blemishes, but to hear those comments made me feel so much better about my skin. I also think the sun has contributed to how good my skin is at the moment too - as my work colleague said '' . .She got out the car, and her skin was just glowing'' (haha thanks Jen!).

Would I recommend Elemis Freshskin products? Yes, I think they are a really nice set of products, which have definitely agreed to my skin. They are friendly to skin, really easy to use and smell really lovely on the skin. However they are slightly expensive, but in my opinion they work!
