Illamasqua Cream Blusher 'Betray'

Many of you will remember that I attended the Clothes Show in the early part of December, and I managed to pick up some ace bargains. One of those bargains being the 3 products for £10 at the Illamasqua counter. I chose a cream blusher, mascara and eyeshadow and as promised I would do a review on them all individually. Todays blog post is the Illamasqua Cream Blusher 'Betray', which I surprisingly like very much.

I have always wanted to try Illamasqua products but never had the opportunity due to not living anywhere near a counter that stocks the brand. I have always been tempted however to order online, but I always feared that whatever I ordered would be the wrong shade, or not to my liking (and could be a waste of money!). So when my beady eyes clapped sight of Ilamasqua at the Clothes Show, with the offer of 3 products for £10 (last day deal), I figured seeing as the deal was pretty cheap and I wanted to sample Illamasqua products, this was my perfect opportunity. As you can imagine the stall was absolutely ram packed (I kid you not), and I had to fight tooth and nail to get anywhere near the products especially the blushers. Taking into consideration my skin tone and looking at the choices of blushers, I decided to choose Cream Blusher 'Betray'.

Deep rose plum, dewy finish

The whole concept of cream blusher was completely non existent in my 'beauty/makeup' world, and it didn't come to light until I started blogging and I came across a few blog posts that mentioned it. Of course, curiousity killed the cat and got the better of me, and I just had to see what the big hoohaa was about with these products. And the verdict? I am hooked! I am honestly amazed just at how well this (and the rest of illamasqua products I presume?) are so pigmented, and a little goes an incredibly long way! I first made the mistake of using it as if I was a powder blusher, and evidently it was way too much. Having gone back to retry again, only a slight dab/patting of the finger along the cheek bone, and then buffing ensures this product reaches the necessary areas with sufficient product.

The RRP for cream blushers are £16.50 which I think is pretty good. However I have noticed this particular cream blusher has now been put into sale at the cost of £10.00 which is a great little saving.

Overall Thoughts
As a first time user of Illamasaqua products, I have to say I am very impressed. Although I only picked up 3 products for a mere £10.00, I feel what I chose was ample enough for me to sample and really familiarise myself with the brand. My only slight grumble is the availability; I have to either travel an hour or so to Birmingham Bullring, or order online which is a bit of annoying as I can't see/sample the products before purchasing.

  1. How strange! I also went to the clothes show live and I couldn't agree with you more about how packed it was! I was going to pick this up!

I've wanted to try Illamasqua products for ages, so thank you for reviewing this, It has a really nice pink undertone to it but isn't too overpowering, which is what I look for in a cream blush.

    Love your blog! :)
